Each pendant is a custom, handcrafted keepsake made using a small amount of your horse’s mane or tail hair. The hair is carefully arranged, and sealed beneath a clear glass cabochon, then set into a silver-tone bezel to create a meaningful piece you can gift, wear, hang from your rearview mirror, or hang on your Christmas tree.
Pendants are available in either a 1-inch round or oval shape. Each piece is made individually by hand, and natural variations in hair color and texture ensure that every pendant is one of a kind.
The finished pendant is paired with a brown or black waxed cord necklace, a polishing cloth, and enclosed in a soft microfiber jewelry pouch, suitable for gifting or personal safekeeping.
Lighter color hair, or mixed colors will be dry set. They will not look as rich or saturated as a wet set, because light colored hair goes clear in glue or resin.
Dark color hair will be wet set in UV resin to bring out a rich, saturated appearance.
This keepsake is suitable for everyday wear, though removing it during strenuous activity is recommended.
The glass can scratch if the pendant is kept as a keychain, dropped, stored outside of its pouch, etc.
Please collect mane hair if possible. If there is no mane, or it’s very short, please collect tail hair.
Select a hank of clean hair from the underside of the mane or tail. It should be about 1 inch wide and at minimum 3 inches long (it’s ok to be longer). Secure the hair with a band or tape, and cut just above where you secured it.
Place the hair in an envelope and mail to:
